We interview Alex Ziglioli, Marine Execution Manager operating in the US office in West Palm Beach since 2015.
When did your collaboration with Mozzanica officially begin, and what was it like to take on the role of Mozzanica USA’s on-site representative?
My collaboration with Mozzanica began in January 2015, exactly ten years ago, and of course nothing was easy at the beginning. We had to start everything from scratch: building relationships with suppliers, setting up logistics and organizing daily operations by taking into account both short- and long-term objectives.
Before working for Mozzanica, did you already have any experience in the marine fire protection field?
I had previous experience in fire protection, but not in the marine sector, which was a completely new field for me. However, I've never backed down from a challenge and now, in hindsight, I can say that I'm really happy to have discovered this field.
What does it mean to work in the United States? How would you describe American customers? What's the best way to meet their needs?
Anyone dealing with American customers should keep in mind that they are demanding, timelines are tight, and they usually follow a number of operating procedures that they expect you to respect. Timeliness is essential and I won't deny that considering everything I've said so far, it takes a certain degree of courage and determination.
What are three examples of elements needed to deliver quality service?
In my opinion, they are definitely competence, timing and solid organization.
We imagine that response time combined with the right supply of spare parts and reliable logistics are extremely important to Mozzanica USA. Is that correct?
Absolutely. You definitely need a good stock of spare parts to meet customer needs, but more importantly, you can reduce response times in case of emergencies, and that's essential for a ship that is only temporarily docked.
In conclusion, what do you think are the strengths that Mozzanica USA has developed over the past ten years?
After ten years, I'd say the first main strength is a lean and rapid management style, which has allowed us to stand out for our quick response times in emergency situations. A second strength is the constant availability of spare parts, but the last, and perhaps the most important, is the passion we have for our work.
